Heartthrob - CR Banner

He likes a challenge…

Heartthrob, the first steamy standalone in the American Royalty Series from USA Today bestselling author Robin Bielman, is coming May 7th and we have the hot cover for you!

heartthrob-MEDIUM.jpg

Here’s the deal: I’m the best center fielder in the major leagues. I’m also the guy who cost his team the championship game and acted very unsportsmanlike. So, when the team hires a social media manager to repair the damage to my reputation, I don’t argue. But then I meet Chloe Conrad, and I suddenly understand what people mean when they say they have an instant connection to someone. Which means I’m in serious trouble. Chloe’s a smart, sexy distraction I can’t afford, but one date can’t hurt, right? Only she turns me down. And just like that, it’s game on.

She’s sworn off love…

Finn Auprince is the hottest player in the major leagues. Look up “It Factor” in the dictionary and there’s his handsome face. He’s also my biggest client and I don’t care how easy it is to talk to him or how fun it is to manage his social media accounts, I will not give in to his charms. Then one drunken night, I tell him about my curse: all my previous boyfriends have found their soul mates while dating me. One more heartbreak, and I’ll never recover. But Finn doesn’t believe in curses—he believes in me. Professionally and personally. He sets out to prove the universe isn’t against me, and that his one true love isn’t waiting around the next corner.

The problem is…can we play the game of love and both come out on top?

BOOK REVIEW: Want it All by Elizabeth Perry

Just $2.99

There are so many book genres out there these days that it doesn’t take too much to find a hybrid or mash-up of different types. One of my favorites is sports romances because (honestly) who doesn’t like a hunky sports figure who finds the right girl to tame him. If they don’t like each other at first, all the better.

“Want it All” by Elizabeth Perry starts with an absolutely cringe-worthy party; it also perfectly illustrates why the two main characters, Brock and Samantha, need to work together. We already know that I don’t give away plots, but the tension between the two is earned.

Books of this type don’t often have a lot of depth, but that isn’t meant to be an insult. It’s more that the reader doesn’t have to think too hard to follow the story. This is a good thing. The author throws a subplot in that kinda makes sense and kinda adds a little depth, and it works within the context of the story.

If you’re a fan of either sports or frenemies to lovers, this is the book for you. My Goodreads review is below.

Want it All by Elizabeth Perry

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It’s always nice to find a decent frenemies, sports story, and “Want it All” fits the bill. With stories like this, you pretty much know how it’s going to end up, so the interest is in the way they get there. Brock Edwards is a party-animal baseball player, Samantha Carson is the PR specialist charged with helping him get his act together before he loses his place on the team. You know that there is probably one of these guys on just about every sports team and the author does a good job of making him completely obnoxious (I like an author who isn’t afraid to portray a true chauvinistic pig; it makes the redemption that much better). I didn’t think that his background was filled out enough at the beginning to make his “awakening to love” as realistic as it could have been. Like-wise with Samantha; it all seemed to happen rather quickly. But there was an interesting twist in the second half that cleared some things up. All in all, it was a quick, enjoyable read, 3.5 stars. Oh, and even though it is fourth in a series, there was no need to have read the first three (although I will now because the characters seem interesting). Thank you to the publisher and author for a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Presents : New Release

Want it All
by Elizabeth Perry

Series: Sliding Home; Book 4

Genre: Sports Romance

When the biggest player in the field finally meets his match …

I’m going to be honest, here. The moment that I met Brock Edwards, I was was sure that I had drawn the short straw.

I mean, seriously.

Who really talks like that?

He thinks that he is God’s gift to women, and while that may be partially true, it doesn’t matter to me.

I’m not falling for it.

I have one job, and one job only.

Keeping him in the game, before his fed up coach trades him at the end of the season.

It should be easy, except, he resists me at every turn. Just when I think that we’re making progress, BAM!

He turns back into an asshole.

I want to hate the guy, really, I do.

Except, the more time that I spend with him, the more I realize that there is a lot more to Brock Edwards than his image shows.

He’s pretty breathtaking, actually.

He also has heartbreak written across his face.

I’m going to work hard to keep him on the field, but I’m going to have to work harder to keep him out of my bed, and worse?

Out of my heart.

Presents : Cover Reveal

Playing the Shortstop
by Trish Williford

Series: A Fangirl Novel; Book 3
Genre: Sports Romance

Losing two roommates within a year isn’t exactly what Lexi Murray had in mind. While her friends are finding their happily ever afters, she feels stuck watching on the side lines. Not being able to afford a condo alone in Baltimore on a teacher’s salary, Lexi is on the hunt for her next roommate. Little did she expect for the vacancy to be filled by the Shortstop for the Baltimore Blue Birds.

Single father and professional baseball player Jace Jackson only has room in heart for one girl; his fourteen year old daughter. He has decided to sacrifice his dating life to dedicate his non-baseball time to his child only. It has been easy, that is until he agrees to be a gorgeous woman’s roommate, against better judgement.

Lexi and Jace both know sharing a condo will come with its challenges, one of which is their mutual attraction to one another. Since both aren’t looking for love, they agree on one rule:

Sex. No feelings. Just fun.

Something so simple shouldn’t be so difficult.

BOOK REVIEW: Tough Luck by Liv Morris

Free on KU, $2.99 to buy

If you are a fan of sports romances or light enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romances, this is the book for you. Amazon states that it is the second in a series, but it is a total stand-alone. A light, easy read. Below is my Goodreads review.

Tough Luck by Liv Morris

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

As far as romances go, this one was pretty decent. A hero who swears off women to concentrate on his game, until the day he’s ready to meet “the one;” a heroine who is career-focused until she meets “the one.” And, oh yeah, they hate each other but have to work together. The reader knows from the get-go what is going to happen, but that’s okay because the journey there has some laughs and the characters are fun to get to know. The banter between Amelia and Bryce is real and give insight to their characters. There isn’t a lot of depth, the way they both treat their careers was a little annoying, and the tv show made no sense. But in a breezy rom-com, I wouldn’t expect much more. I give it 3.5 stars for being a nice sports-themed, enemies-to-lovers romance.
